In this guide helps you to connect to internet in your laptop or desktop via android phone. Earlier PDAnet application is needed to work Android phone as modem. And the cost of PDAnet application is $16 which is very high for many of you. A new free Clockwork Mod application (by Koushik Dutta of ClockworkMod) used as Android device to work as modem. This guide shows how to use free clockwork Mod application.
Requirements:
- Android Phone
- USB sync cable
- Laptop or Netbook or Desktop
- ClockworkMod Tether Alpha (For Mac / Linux / Windows (Windows XP/Vista/7)
Steps to install & Use ClockworkMod Tether Application:
Step 1: Once after downloading ClockworkMod Tether Alpha application, install to your laptop or desktop or netbook. In Windows 7 and vista OS an error message will occurs like unsigned drivers but don’t worry approve it.
Step 2: Soon after installation ended, the internet default browser will start with Tether Drivers sub page of clockworkMod site.
Step 3: If you were using PDAnet application before remove it and restart the computer. Once again check whether PDAnet file or folder is left out.
Step 4: Now connect your phone through sync cable and join phone and PC.
Step 5: Launch ClockworkMOD application and go to settings-Apps-Development and enable the debug mode. Computer is linked to phone, click start to Tether.
Step 6: Now your Tether application is installed automatically or you can install manually through clockwork ModTetherCommonfolder. If USB logo in Tether Android application and Tether desktop application is green, it means you are connected to internet in PC through the phone. You don’t want Wi-Fi nodes while your Android phone is the in pocket. In many applications there is some small problem, if this application causes any problem.
The step for troubleshooting ClockwordMod Tether Application:
- Restart both PC and Android phone
- Task manager may help you to stop tether.exe and node.exe
- For DUN Null error, please check you have not installed PDAnet
- Please check USB driver is up-to-date to avoid hanging of connection.
